WALKING THROUGH IT - TO GET PAST IT is the title and subtitle of Emily's powerful story. Emily wrote in the Best Selling Book Women Like Me - Healing and Acceptance. (Volume Six)
Emily describes growing up in a chaotic home where the generational chains of dysfunction and abuse could be seen everywhere.
“YOU WERE DEAD THIS MORNING!” I shouted at her in the darkness of the back room. I grabbed her arm and dragged her to the front door, pushing her out into the snow and throwing her scarf and shoes off the balcony. I was so broken. How could she even think of using again after what had happened? How could she put us through that again?
Emily is a mother of two and a trained chef, and her trade of choice is drywall.
She is a background actor and, more recently, an author. She volunteers on the PAC for her daughter’s school, as well as for community projects in her spare time.
Emily has always had a passion for feeding people good food and making them feel at home.
You can tell being a mother has always been her main path, though, because she is kind, helpful, forgiving, and patient while parenting. She is creating a safe space for her children to feel loved and understood while breaking generational trauma.
Emily would love to go to school one day to do community outreach and addiction counseling. She hopes that her story will help people feel like someone else understands, cares for them, and is rooting for them to succeed and achieve their hopes and dreams.
Emily would like to remind people that life is full of such beautiful experiences and moments, and if they weren't here, they would miss not only the bad days but every good day destined for them as well.
